As main sponsors of music festival Way Out West, Coop wanted to host a restaurant where they also could engage people in a conversation about sustainability (the latter was done through an interactive station where people could make a pledge to eat more vegetarian in the year to come).
My role was to design the exterior and interior of this temporary space in close collaboration with chefs, producers and other stakeholders.
Inspired by greenhouses the aim was to have people experiencing the restaurant to associate the space with vegetables, organic farming, the joy of food, and sustainability. Also inspired by one of my previous projects, the structure was designed with large wooden beams joined together by green-painted metal fittings, adding a contrasting playfulness to the seriousness of the theme.
The result was a cozy place where festival goers could grab a slice of organic pizza, escape the rain and charge their phones. The interactive station also turned out a success with over 2000 people making a pledge to eat more vegetarian.
