Mental illness worldwide is surging and psychiatry is in great need of new, more effective interventions. Studies at prestigious universities around the globe are combining psychotherapy and psychedelics to combat illnesses such as depression, addiction and post traumatic stress disorder. Despite very promising results in these studies, Sweden has yet to produce studies of its own.
In response to this void, the Stockholm-based non-profit organization The Swedish Network for Psychedelic Science was formed in 2016, acting as a hub and allowing researchers from various disciplines to connect with each other and the international psychedelic science community.
Colloquium on Psychedelic Psychiatry 2018, the first ever conference on psychedelics in Sweden, was put together with the hopes of decreasing the stigmas associated with these substances, sharing findings, and unlocking further potential and new collaborations.
